Earth Month at Sea Vancouver

Sea Vancouver

Earth Month is celebrated throughout April as a time to raise environmental awareness, promote sustainability, and take meaningful action to protect our planet. While our tours don’t begin until the end of the month, Earth Month is an important time for us to reflect on how our values shape every part of our operation, both on and off the water. At Sea Vancouver, sustainability isn’t just something we talk about during our tours, it’s built into how we run our business!

1% For The Planet

BC's fjords

We are proud members of 1% for the Planet, committing one percent of our revenue to environmental organizations working to protect ecosystems both locally and globally. Supporting conservation is not an add-on; it’s a core part of who we are and how we operate.

We are Climate Positive

We are also a climate positive company. While we actively work to reduce emissions across our operations, we take responsibility for what we cannot yet eliminate. We purchase verified carbon offsets through Vancouver-based Ostrom Climate and collaborate with Victoria’s Synergy Enterprises to monitor and improve our environmental performance. All of our offsets support the Great Bear Rainforest Carbon Project, helping to protect one of the most important coastal ecosystems in the world.

Ethical Wildlife Viewing

Our commitment extends directly to how we operate on the water. Ethical wildlife viewing is a cornerstone of every tour we run. We strictly follow all guidelines, maintain safe distances, and reduce speeds in sensitive areas to ensure that marine mammals and seabirds are never disturbed. Ongoing crew training ensures that respect for wildlife always comes first.

Fleet Improvements

Even behind the scenes, we are making improvements. Some of our vessels are equipped with biocide-free hull paint, reducing the release of harmful chemicals into the marine environment. It’s one of the many small but meaningful steps we’re taking to lessen our impact beneath the surface.

As we prepare to launch another season at April 24th, Earth Month serves as a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s about more than getting out on the water, it’s about protecting it for the future.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard soon and sharing Vancouver’s incredible coastline in a way that is not only exciting, but responsible!
