Every Sea Vancouver skipper holds the required Transport Canada commercial marine certifications, along with emergency response training. Their experience navigating Vancouver’s busy waterways helps ensure every tour is operated with care and attention to changing conditions.

From floatplanes and ferries to commercial vessels moving through the harbour, our skippers are constantly aware of their surroundings and the traffic around them. Before departure, guests are also provided with Mustang survival suits and a safety briefing so everyone knows what to expect before heading out on the water.

Our skippers are also passionate local guides. Throughout your tour, they share live commentary about Vancouver’s waterfront, landmarks, history, and natural surroundings.

As you travel along the coast, you might learn about the engineering behind the Lions Gate Bridge, the history of Granville Island, or the distinctive geology of Siwash Rock. Seeing Vancouver from the water offers a different perspective on the city and its relationship with the surrounding coastline.

Vancouver’s waterways are home to an impressive variety of wildlife, even close to the city. Our skippers know where to look for harbour seals, bald eagles, and other marine and coastal wildlife that can be easy to miss from shore.

With local knowledge and plenty of time spent on the water, they help guests make the most of every sighting while keeping the experience respectful of the wildlife and their environment.
