One of the most common questions we hear is, “What should I bring on a Zodiac tour?”
The good news is that preparing for your tour is simple. Whether you’re joining us to explore Vancouver’s coastline, cruise beneath the Lions Gate Bridge, or discover the beauty of Indian Arm, bringing a few essentials will help ensure you’re comfortable from departure to return.
Dress in Layers
Weather on the water can feel different than it does on land. We provide Mustang Survival suits and Mustang PFDs, which can be worn depending on the weather conditions, but we recommend checking the forecast before your tour to ensure you dress appropriately.
Keep in mind that there is often a cooler sea breeze on the water, and temperatures can feel around 5 degrees cooler than they do on land. Dressing in layers is the best way to stay comfortable throughout your adventure.
If you have larger bags or personal belongings that you’d prefer not to bring aboard, you’re welcome to leave them in our supervised storage area while you enjoy your tour!

Wear Closed-Toe Shoes

Comfortable, closed-toe shoes such as running shoes or hiking shoes are the best choice for your tour. They provide good grip while boarding the boat and help keep your feet comfortable throughout the ride. We recommend avoiding sandals, flip flops, or high heels.
Bring Sunglasses and Sunscreen
The sun can be surprisingly strong on the water, even when it’s cloudy. Sunlight reflects off the surface of the Salish Sea, making sunglasses and sunscreen a smart addition to your packing list. Polarized sunglasses are especially helpful, reducing glare while making it easier to enjoy the incredible scenery and spot wildlife along the coastline.

The Camera

We know bringing your phone or camera out on a boat can feel a little scary. That’s why we offer a complimentary photo package on every tour, with our guides capturing photos of the scenery, wildlife, and your experience along the way. After your tour, you’ll receive these photos to enjoy and share.
You are also welcome to bring your own phone or camera if you would like to capture your own moments throughout the adventure.
You’re Ready for Adventure
Packing for a Zodiac tour doesn’t have to be complicated. With comfortable clothing, a few essentials, and your sense of adventure, you’ll be ready to experience Vancouver from an entirely new perspective.
We can’t wait to welcome you aboard and show you the beauty of Vancouver’s coastline from the water!
