As September turns into October, the air in Vancouver gets a little crisp. You might be wondering if it is too cold for a guided boat tours, and luckily the answer is no!

With the right layers, a late-season zodiac ride is one of the best ways to see the city. Our boats offer a unique, adrenaline-filled perspective of the coastline that you just cannot get anywhere else.

We Are Still Cruising This Fall

Rest assured that Sea Vancouver is still running our City & Nature 90-minute tour daily until mid-October. A common question we get this time of year is whether we cancel trips due to the cold. We do not cancel tours just because the temperature drops. The main reason we can run in all kinds of weather is that we provide every guest with a Mustang Survival suit. These specialized suits act as an excellent source of warmth against the ocean breeze and also serve as your reliable flotation device.

Your safety and overall enjoyment are our top priorities, and we want you to have a fantastic time out on the water. While chilly weather will not stop our captains, we do monitor the forecast very closely. If the winds are too high and create rough, unsafe conditions on the ocean, we will proactively cancel the tour for your safety. Otherwise, if it is just a bit cold, the adventure continues as planned!

Your Fall Zodiac Packing Checklist

Even with our warm survival suits, the autumn breeze makes it cool out on the water. Here is what you can wear underneath to stay completely comfortable during your sightseeing adventure:

• Cozy mid-layers: Wear a warm fleece, a thick wool sweater, or a light down jacket. These layers trap your body heat perfectly under the survival suit.
• Long pants: Jeans, thick leggings, or warm athletic pants work best to keep your legs protected from the crisp air.
• Headwear and eyewear: A warm tuque or beanie is essential to protect your ears from the rushing wind. Do not forget your sunglasses because the fall sun glare off the ocean can be incredibly bright.
• Warm footwear: Please leave the sandals at home. Closed-toe shoes and thick socks are an great for keeping your feet warm on the boat.

There is a special kind of magic on the waterfront this time of year. Being bundled up makes the crisp ocean salt air feel invigorating rather than uncomfortable.
